To my brother Don,

How blessed I am to have had you as my brother.

I've seen your thoughtful kindness to others - - -

Always friendly, always polite.

You never let your limitations limit you.

You always far exceeded other's low expectations of you.

Your courage and your persistence have always inspired me.

And I truly and deeply admired you, my big brother.

The simple things you did - - -

Buying a rose for a coworker--always quick to say "Thank you" - -

Your amazing memory - memories from our childhood that I had long ago forgotten.

I shall greatly miss our Saturdays together - playing "Trouble" - you enjoying footlong hotdogs at Steak N Shake - your weird lottery numbers - the 60's music from our childhood - and your unique perspective on things.

I'm saddened that you never got to open your Christmas presents and listen to that new Monkee CD you wanted.

You were such a wonderful brother to me. And it meant so much to me to hold your hand in the hospital and hear you say, "I love you."

And while I'm glad that you're no longer in pain, that you are completely whole and enjoying Heaven with Dad, it's lonely here without you and I can't help but wish you were still here with us.

You have overcome so many obstacles and challenges that many would not have. So in a world of superheroes, I want you to know that you are my hero.

I have been so privileged and blessed to have had you as my brother.

I love you, Don, and look forward to seeing you in Heaven. But until that day, I shall miss you.

Love, your sister, Dianne

"But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that you sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with Him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not precede them which are asleep. For the Lord Himself shall descend from Heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words." (1 Thess. 4:13-18)
